CLM Launch the el-box(tm)

The el-box(tm) is a self-contained multimedia presentation unit, specifically designed for learning. It can be used anywhere within a client site. The only connection needed is to a mains socket.

It has a bright touchscreen and comes pre-loaded with a choice of e-learning courses, so you can simply "turn on and start learning".

Why has CLM developed the el-box(tm)?

IT departments are often very resistant to the addition of new software onto the existing IT infrastructure due to possible support and security issues.

Computers used in businesses seldom have sound capabilities. Interactive narration is an essential component of effective e-learning courses.

The el-box(tm) solves all these problems. It provides HR departments with dedicated hardware for learning and allows the use of inspiring, media-rich, instructionally sound content.

How does the el-box(tm) work?

The el-box(tm) provides access to over 50 courses from the combined portfolios of Creative Learning Media (mandatory, job skills and bespoke content), Video Arts (communication and management skills) and Educational Multimedia Corporation (IT skills).

The monthly lease rental starts from just £40.00 + VAT, which includes licences for mandatory courses (food safety, health & safety), as well as a choice of four further courses from the combined portfolio. The rest of the courses can then be accessed on a pay-per-view basis.

Training records and usage statistic are periodically exported to a central server by connecting to a standard BT phone line for a few minutes.

Like a laptop, the el-box(tm) can be used anywhere but unlike a laptop, it is a low theft risk as only pre-loaded software can be installed and used.

It is wireless (except for the mains lead) and has an Irda port on the front for use with an infrared keyboard and mouse if required (CLM are adapting their e-learning courses to be fully touchscreen compatible).

Supporting and updating is done on a simple courier swap-out basis to ensure there's never a need for a site visit by a technician.

The el-box(tm) is particularly suitable for sites that do not have access to a separate room for learning.
