| Atlantic Link announced the launch of Retail 'Point of Sale' e-learning authoring for in-store tills. This allows retailers to run courses directly on store tills, including full emulation of POS devices. Direct keyboard mapping allows the simulations to interact directly with Dynakeys, input pads and other till hardware.
Mike Alcock, Managing Director of Atlantic Link, comments, "Large retailers face significant challenges when it comes to staff training. These include very high staff numbers (often with high staff turnover), geographically distributed workforces, ever changing product ranges and numerous IT systems to learn. E-learning at the Point of Sale allows retailers to solve many of these issues.
A major barrier for many retailers has been the inability to deploy realistic e-learning programmes 'in-store'. With the latest release of Atlantic Link's authoring tools, retailers can now create 100% realistic simulations that can be deployed instantly to POS terminals. Store staff interact with the courses as if they were dealing with a real transaction, dramatically improving learning and retention.
This development allows retailers to train their store staff on the hardware that they will use in their day job, using back office PC's or live tills during quiet trading periods. Training courses can be updated centrally and delivered instantly to thousands of staff, without the need for expensive 'off-site' courses, travel, environmentally unfriendly paper manuals or complex dummy databases.
All of this functionality is delivered through Atlantic Link's rapid authoring software products (Capture Point and Content Point), meaning that this method of e-learning delivery can be created in days instead of weeks or months".
