Edvantage group has launched a new version of Learning Gateway, its fully-hosted Learning Management System. Learning Gateway 4.8 improves the learner experience and streamlines the administration process, leading to a faster uptake of training across organisations. The new functions also strengthen Edvantage group’s ability to deliver a comprehensive range of Managed Learning Services.
Learning Gateway’s strength is that it enables organisations to create a dynamic learning environment. While corporate Learning Management Systems (LMSs) are traditionally focused on management and distribution of e-learning courses and classroom training, employees today are looking for more than just ‘taking courses’ – they seek experiences that motivate them, engage them and help them to continuously learn.
The entirely new “My Space” feature of Learning Gateway 4.8 gives learners a personalised training map, helping them to access the right resources at the right time. Here learners can read news, monitor their progress, rate courses and access resources to accelerate the learning process. Pictures, videos, documents or web-pages can be added to a specific course or programme to increase the transfer of relevant knowledge and build deeper levels of understanding. An enhanced user interface also makes it easier for system administrators to create and manage blended learning environments – including e-learning and classroom training, formal and informal learning. Administrators, line managers and training managers can capitalise on new functions to help employees get more from each programme or course, with less time and effort.
New features of Learning Gateway 4.8 include:
- multi-language news publishing – news items or targeted messages can be created, managed and distributed, in any language, to groups of learners or individuals
- resource management and distribution – all types of learning resources, in any file format can be uploaded to the Learning Gateway, or linked in from another source, for easy distribution and reuseratings – courses can be rated to give valuable feedback to other learners
- access definitions – courses can be defined as ‘normal’, ‘suggested’ and ‘mandatory’ to encourage completion
- strict learning paths – learners are forced to progress through a learning path or certification path in a pre-determined sequence
- automatic publishing and date controlling – ability to pre-set course access dates and removal dates
- classroom management improvements – navigation and process improvements with in-line reporting to Excel
- PENS support (Packet Exchange Notification Service) – one-click publishing and easier uploading of courses
“Since we started development of Learning Gateway, our goal has been to create the most user-centric LMS on the market,” says Jon Ĝivind Stenerud, Chief Technology Officer, Edvantage group. “By developing a solid platform with a well thought out architecture, we are able to meet the needs of administrators and learners simultaneously. Learner focused features, streamlined administration, and a fully-hosted solution that is part of our Managed Learning Services approach, provide our customers with a high return on investment.”
