Click2learn announced that The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC, TSX: TOC) - a worldwide leader in integrated information, education and learning solutions - has selected the Aspen Productivity Suite(TM) to support Thomson University, the company's corporate education and learning resource for more than 44,000 employees around the world.
"The Thomson mission is to enable our customers to work more productively and achieve better business results. We have the same commitment to the employees in our own global organisation," said Jay Spach, president of Thomson University. "Aspen provides the type of strong, scalable solution we need to successfully grow our complex learning strategy and Click2learn has been an excellent partner in this effort."
Thomson will use Aspen to provide professional development and business skills learning and drive corporate knowledge sharing across Thomson. Initially, online learning content will be drawn from an extensive library developed by NETg, a Thomson business. Going forward, Thomson will also use Aspen to create additional proprietary content to address other corporate learning needs.
"As an information industry leader, Thomson is in a position to know the best technologies and practices in the marketplace. We are delighted to provide Thomson with Aspen's powerful technology infrastructure to help it create, deliver and manage rich, relevant and timely learning experiences to its employees worldwide," said Kevin Oakes, chairman and CEO of Click2learn. "Click2learn and Thomson share years of industry experience, as well as a common understanding of and passion for learning. We look forward to working together on this important initiative."
Whether organisations choose to deploy the entire Aspen suite, or to integrate select Aspen applications with existing infrastructure, Aspen's standards-based (AICC, SCORM, XML, etc.) modular and open architecture is designed to lower the total cost of ownership of learning solutions.
