| LINE Communications Group announced strong business wins at the start of 2003. Signalling continued business growth, LINE has signed deals with BP plc and the BBC to supply custom content on business-critical issues.
As part of the initial work with BP, LINE will develop an HSE (Health, Safety & the Environment) e-learning programme to ensure that some 10,000 of BP's future leaders in more than 40 countries fully understand, are compliant with and 'live' the company's rigorous HSE policies. This will enable BP to maintain its excellent record in employee safety and safeguard the well being of both its staff and the environments in which the company operates.
For the BBC, LINE is creating an Editorial Policy awareness programme targeted at everyone in the BBC involved in programme-making across all media.
LINE has seen considerable growth in demand for its custom learning solutions recently, CEO Piers Lea explains: "the e-learning industry is maturing. In the past it focused on administration-centred technology solutions but now everyone is talking about creating learner-centric training - and high-quality custom content is the very best way to achieve this."
But in uncertain times e-learning investments have to be carefully targeted and highly effective. "That's why we focus on Business-Critical learning. These recent wins - HSE for BP, Editorial Policy for BBC - are perfect examples of e-learning hitting key business issues for global organisations, with clear-cut business cases and bottom-line benefits" says Lea.
"We're seeing significant interest and orders in areas like HSE and Induction recently. In fact we're working on three global induction programmes right now, including the recently announced project for 27,000 staff at Volvo Car Corporation. E-learning provides a way of bringing these serious issues to life effectively and in a format that will last for years".
