British Airways (BA) has named Tata Interactive Systems (TIS) as one of only three ‘preferred suppliers’ of custom built e-learning materials for the company’s 50,000 or so staff. BA made this announcement after carrying out an extensive and rigorous selection process over several months.

Initially TIS, which has one of the world’s largest teams for the design and development of custom-built e-learning solutions, will be producing a suite of e-learning materials for British Airways covering regulatory training topics including health & safety and the carriage of dangerous goods.

Elaine Wilson, BA’s e-learning manager, commented: “BA has a large and widely geographically dispersed workforce – which makes e-learning a highly practical and cost-effective way of delivering the knowledge and skills that we need to keep BA as one of the world’s top airlines.

“In addition to commissioning a number of new custom built e-learning materials, we are also in the process of revising and consolidating our existing custom built e-learning courses – with the help of our preferred suppliers,” she added.

“We are particularly impressed by TIS’s commitment to quality – as shown by their possession of a number of internationally recognised quality marks and their commitment to ‘Six Sigma’ quality improvement techniques. Other key factors in BA choosing TIS as one of its preferred suppliers are TIS’s ability to produce high quality e-learning materials to demanding deadlines and tight budgets, as well as their commitment to catering for the needs of their customers.

“Key decision factors were TIS’s responsiveness to our particular challenges and customer feedback, which gave us confidence in TIS’s ability to deliver cost-effective, quality products.”

According to TIS’s Alan Samuel: “BA has joined a growing number of major and prestigious employers in the UK and Europe who are choosing TIS to design and develop e-learning materials for their staff. After just five years operating in the UK, TIS is approaching the completion of its 600th e-learning project.”
