Sentient Learning announced that they will be working with the International Centre for Digital Content (ICDC) to develop a WebCT PowerLink and a Blackboard Building Block for the release of Sentient DISCOVER V2.0, a learning resource management system targeted at the Educational Sector.

ICDC, part of Liverpool John Moores University, aims to empower organisations using digital technology, enabling them to create groundbreaking, innovative content. ICDC works with leading names in new media and digital technology on a programme of education, research and business support initiatives

The Sentient DISCOVER V2.0 WebCT PowerLink and Blackboard Building Block will enable course designers to add all library managed learning resources directly into their WebCT course. Sentient DISCOVER enhances resource discovery for academics, manages the links to learning resources, whilst providing the library with invaluable management information concerning the projected utilisation of resources.

Acting as a system integrator, Sentient DISCOVER links disparate systems such as learning management systems, integrated library systems, OpenURL resolvers and other content repositories, such as online journal databases.

Andrew Davidson, Managing Director of Sentient Learning commented "Sentient are delighted to be working with ICDC, partnerships with educational institutions are at the forefront of Sentient Learnings’s plans for product development. ICDC have rightly acknowledged the importance of integrating resource management systems with course management systems and have committed considerable expertise to this endeavour."

Simon Robertshaw, Director of ICDC commented "ICDC believe in choosing the right partners for all of our activities. We are pleased to have Sentient as a partner in this project due to their wealth of experience in e-learning and in particular, learning resource management. Our joint endeavour will bring innovation and accessibility to a challenging and growing field."
