LINE Communications announced the expansion of its Sheffield operation. LINE has taken an additional floor in St James House. In effect this doubles LINE's capacity in Sheffield and increases the range of services that it can offer directly from its northern base.
Excellent half year sales underpin the decision to expand the capacity of the business in both Sheffield and London. The exciting pool of talent available in the Sheffield area and in particular the availability of good quality graduate candidates convinced LINE that both the time and place were right to ramp up capacity in the city.
A particular achievement has been the LINE Graduate Development Programme. Following a successful trial last year, LINE has now extended its intake to include 7 new graduates from around the UK. In recent years LINE has taken individual graduates into both the Visual Design and Technical teams, but this is the first ‘group intake' into the company covering both the Learning Design and Technical teams.
Growing skills from the ground up is critical to being able to service an ever increasing client base. Fiona Partington, LINE’s Director of People and Skills, says that this is a key part of LINE’s future – "This team is outstanding in many ways and through our own learning and communications strategy we find we can upskill exceptionally talented (and web 2.0 literate) graduates quickly and efficiently - without the need to override another company’s approaches or processes. This is directly in line with our strategy for developing knowledge and balances our employment of highly experienced people across all disciplines."
